A creative image sometimes says more than your standard posed-smile photo. The image above, submitted by member Michael B., shows the soft sand, whipping winds and a gorgeous beach – all before the coming storm. Michael tells us more about his third place Wild and Fun-winning Shoot for the Stars photo!
Where did you take this photo?
We were in Destin, Florida, on Miramar Beach. We plan a trip here every year, but the place we stayed this time was one of the high-rise resorts and we stayed on the eighth floor. When you looked down, you could actually see the different tones of color that were in the water. It was a unique view that we never had before, so we really enjoyed it.
What inspired the artsy photo like this?
Every time we go, we always try to some unique picture. I don’t know what drove us to take this one, but you want something different, not just us shoulder-to-shoulder, smiling on a beach.
Do you travel much?
We usually try to do one to two big trips per year using one of our vacation weeks and/or going on a cruise. We’ve gone to Colorado and we go to Branson, Missouri, quite a bit because it’s close to us. We really do enjoy the beach more than anything.
One unique thing about the trip we took this time: It was our first time to endure a tropical storm. On Wednesday and Thursday, talk about some big rains. We had a chance to get away from the beach and go shopping, but we still got wet. It was really windy and lots of rain. Living in Oklahoma, we endure heavy thunderstorms and rain regularly. Those usually move on after 30-40 minutes, but this one was there the whole day.
We’re so glad you made it out OK, Michael! We hope your next trip to Destin isn’t as wet!
